Humanistic management, action research and critical realism

As a management educator, I promote humanistic management to my students, supported by a reflective action research approach grounded in critical realism. They often need additional guidance on these matters so I make references available on these topics for them.

Critical realism

Critical realism (the variant developed by Roy Bhaskar and his followers) is a philosophy of science very suited to humanistic management and action research. CR supports an emancipatory view of the social world, i.e., a world where people flourish in their autonomy. This means that oppressive and exploitative management practices deserve critical analysis and active efforts for change -- thus action research.
